Career Transition and Transformation Forum
Tuesday 20 March

INSEAD is celebrating 50 years since it first welcomed women. With a year of events across the globe, the INSEAD Women 50 (iW50) programme and INSEAD Gender Initiative seek to reaffirm our commitment to equipping women for success at every stage and in every organisation. The final event in the UK series aims to bring together alumni (and their guests) of all genders from across business schools, promotions and sectors to network and share stories and ideas.

The highly interactive Career Transition and Transformation Forum, features inspiring keynote speakers, panel discussions and a choice of in-depth themed breakout sessions. Focus on your career aspirations and join the discussion on how we can enable companies and future leaders to embrace the opportunities afforded by new ways of working.

Choose your Breakout Session:

1. Directorships
Getting on to the Board
For many executives, taking on a non-executive director (NED) role seems like the logical next step in their career but the journey to the portfolio career can be full hurdles. In our interactive session, our panel of speakers will share their own experiences and provide their insights into the rewards and challenges likely to be encountered.

2. Politics
Career Success: The role of workplace politics
Every professional reaches a point in their career when it becomes evident that hard work and performance alone are not enough. Workplace politics are a fact of life for everyone and a process that must be engaged in rather than ignored. It is essential to understand the dynamics of your organization, to identify who are the power players with influence over your career and then to build allies and champions who can support your career goals.

3. Digital Leadership
Digital Leadership: A challenge and opportunity
A worldwide demographic shift, combined with a digitally-driven change in desired skill sets, is challenging organisations to re-consider their workforce needs. But what does the ideal workforce look like today and in the future? And how can leaders ensure their organisation is an attractive employment prospect to talent with very different expectations than their predecessors? As we see digital transformation help companies accelerate their transformation journey to fuel productivity, effectiveness and growth. What needs to change when it comes to their leadership and talent?

4. Sponsoring
Sponsoring: How to accelerate your career
What can hold people back isn’t the "old boy's club" conspiracy but rather a surprising absence of advocacy from men and women in positions of power. Some managers who are qualified to lead, particularly women, simply don’t have the powerful backing necessary to inspire, propel, and protect themselves on their journey through upper management. They lack, in a word, sponsorship.

We will also be announcing the launch of INSEAD Alumni Association UK’s first mentoring programme, designed to support women in current and potential leadership positions to manage transitions and further develop their careers.
