Event description

Description

The Managers of the J M Keynes Fellowship Fund proudly present an evening of special lectures, featuring two of the Fund's distinguished Fellows speaking about their innovative research in the field of financial economics:

Dr David Chambers, Cambridge Judge Business School, University of Cambridge

Keynes the Investor

John Maynard Keynes (1883-1946), the famous Cambridge economist, was an active investor in stocks, currencies, commodities and art. He invested for himself as well as for King’s College, Cambridge. Dr Chambers' lecture describes just how innovative Keynes was as an investor, how well he performed and how his investment activities influenced his most well-known publication, The General Theory.

Professor Alexei Onatskiy, Faculty of Economics, University of Cambridge

Spikes, trends, and factors in high dimensions: searching for a needle in a haystack

Professor Onatskiy will review his work on high-dimensional factor, spike, and cointegration models. This work is concerned with detecting and estimating a few signals obscured by a high-dimensional noise.

A drinks reception will be held following the lectures.

The lectures are an excellent opportunity to hear eminent Economists speak about their research. This event is free to attend but please reserve your place.
