The JA StartUp Programme gives university students the opportunity to experience running their own company, giving them an insight into how their talents could be used to set up a business for themselves. Every year over 20.000 students from 500 universities across Europe participate in the programme.

Participants gain real experience of the world of business: coming up with a concept for a business, creating and researching a business plan, taking responsibility and being accountable to their shareholders for the running of the company.

The programme started in early February this year with the participation of over 40 university teams across Cyprus. Based on a commercial video and a business plan, the 10 best teams were selected to pitch their business ideas in the JA StartUp National Finale and Awards Ceremony.

The winning team at the National Finale will represent Cyprus at Europe's Largest Entrepreneurship Festival Gen-E in July. More info about Gen-E can be found at www.gen-e.eu

The JA StartUp Programme is organized by Junior Achievement Cyprus, sponsored by ASBIS, and supported by the Cyprus Research & Innovation Foundation. The Finale and Awards Ceremony is hosted under the auspices of the Cyprus University of Technology.
