Event description
Learn the secrets of Jamaican cooking in Delores' new cookery class

About this Event

Join Delores in preparing a wonderful Jamaican dish for her first online cookery class! This is your chance to learn a brand new cuisine, support an amazing cause, and eat great food!

The class will be conducted as an interactive virtual cook-along. All participants will be sent an Eventbrite confirmation email with a list of ingredients and quantities needed for the recipe, the equipment needed for the class, and a Zoom meeting link. If you do not receive the confirmation email please check your spam folder. If you are still missing information about the class please email hello@migrateful.org. Classes usually range from 1.5-2 hours long. The chef will then lead the group step by step through the recipes; stopping frequently to answer questions, share anecdotes, and provide feedback on your dishes!

We are running virtual cookery classes during the COVID-19 lockdown, while we are unable to run our regular in-person events, as a way to keep connected and to support our chefs.

Delores’ cook-along dishes will be Jamaican Curry Chicken and Fried Plantain

Message from Delores: “Hello I’m Delores from Jamaica. I love cooking delicious, nutritional food, using lots of garlic and spices. I was born into a family of chefs. As a young child growing up, I always helped my Grandmother with the cooking, preparing different dishes whilst my mother was out working as a chef. In 2001 I came to the UK on my own, then in 2005 they took away my immigration status and I was no longer allowed to work – 15 years ago and I’m still waiting! Luckily I am a very positive person, I love singing and my belief in God has kept me strong all these years. I really do love to cook and entertain people. I feel very positive when I’m cooking. A dish that reminds me of home is rice and peas. In my country we didn’t cook rice in the week – only on Sunday. So rice, peas and chicken is like the Sunday roast equivalent in the UK. In the week we eat yam, green banana, cassava.”

Payments made through Paypal can take up to 48 hours to have the order confirmed. To guarantee your spot on a cookery class we recommend using a debit or credit card.
