Description

Blazing Irish Music from John and James Carty with Special Musical Friends.

Father and Son team, John and James Carty will come together, with some very special guests, for a night of amazing fiddles and awesome Irish music.

John Carty is one of Ireland’s finest traditional musicians. Born in London, he is a master on the fiddle, the tenor banjo and flute and he has long established himself among the elite in Irish traditional music. In 2003 Irish Television Station, TG4, named him ‘Traditional Musician of the Year,’ ( previous winners, include his colleague, Matt Molloy, master fiddler Tommy Peoples and Uilleann piper, Paddy Keenan.) He is a member of the Irish Super-Group, ‘Patrick Street’ and a founder of the band ‘At the Racket’. John has collaborated and performed with many of the finest traditional musicians, including the Chieftains, De Danaan, Johnny McDonagh and the great Leitrim fiddler, Bryan Rooney. More recently John performed in two feature films ‘Jimmy’s Hall’ and’ Brooklyn’, for which he also arranged all the traditional music. John currently lives in Ireland, where he is a tutor on the BA course at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance in Limerick.

His Son, James Carty is one of the leading exponents of Sligo fiddle music. Having grown up in a musical household, listening to recordings of the old Sligo masters Michael Coleman, James Morrison, Paddy Killoran.., James quickly developed his own distinctive style of fiddle playing, for which he is now being highly commended. . James has performed all over Ireland, the UK, Canada and the USA... mesmerising his audiences. Recently he released his first solo album, Hiding Daylight in Dark Corners, which is receiving outstanding reviews. He currently lives in London and teaches fiddle for The Mulkere Academy Of Irish Music.
