Event description
Discover the vibrant life of French & English high-society of the 19th century through Tissot's paintings.

About this Event

Join us for a conference on James Tissot, and dive into French and English high society of the 19th century. Tissot was a painter of Paris society before moving to London in 1871 and became famous as a genre painter of fashionably dressed women. John Ruskin dismissed his paintings as “coloured photographs” but the sense of mystery of his “narrative paintings” remains fresh today.

The talk will be held by Marine Kisiel (French Institut National de l'Histoire de l'Art) in French, with Q&A in French and English.

Online with Zoom. Once you register, you will be able to access the link to the Zoom webinar.
