So what is Janapar about?
Be enchanted and enthralled by this beautiful, true, 79-minute film of the love-struck journey of 23-year-old Tom Allen. There are no drugs or deaths in Janapar, but there's plenty of beauty and romance as Tom leaves a sleepy English village on his over-laden bike with no map or guide book.
This amazing true story follows Tom on his 13,000 mile trip in which he meets and falls in love with a beautiful Armenian-Iranian girl. He persuades her to join him on his cycle marathon and Janapar - the Armenian word for "journey" - is a reminder of how a bicycle can be a means of escape.
This film is beautifully shot by Tom and carefully edited by his friend and BBC producer/director James Newton. It's a combination of amazing adventure and inspiring love story. The film was premiered at the Raindance Festival in London and is now showing at venues around the UK. In this Balerno Village Screen special screening you will get the chance to meet the bicycle man himself Tom Allen in a question and answer session that follows the film.
A fantastic Sunday evening viewing right on your doorstep.
Doors open 30 minutes in advance.
