Celebrate Jane Austen's 250th birthday with us at Hazlehurst! An evening of free, regency-inspired creative workshops and activities.

Join us at Hazlehurst Studios for our Jane Austen Takeover Day! We are having a day of free creative workshops for you to come and have a try of, whether you are a fan of Jane Austen or not!

December 16th is Jane Austen's 250th birthday, so we are celebrating by inviting you to our beautiful Georgian building to have a go at

  • Quilting 🪡
  • Creating Silhouettes ✏️
  • Creating Regency smellies🌿
  • Trying on Regency style clothing and accessories 🎩💃🏻 (photos very much so encouraged!)

What else is happening?

  • Hazlehurst artist Toni will be creating live illustrated portraits throughout the day
  • Stitch and B*tch sessions, where you're invited to work on a hand craft and have a natter
  • Live readings and performances of scenes from Jane Austen's works by Hazlehurst artist Mima and storyteller Gav Cross

Who is invited?

  • Everybody! Whether you are a huge fan of Jane Austen or the Regency period or somebody who has never heard of her before, we're sure you'll have a wonderful time.
  • All ages are welcome to come and join the fun.
