Jane Austen Walking Chawton
Event Information
About this Event
Visit the places where Jane Austen lived, walked and worshipped, and where she wrote and rewrote six of her novels, within the daily life of Chawton Village.
Jane moved to Chawton in 1809 and happily lived here for the last eight years of her life. Jane’s niece Caroline wrote that "Jane took a keen interest in the affairs of her neighbours, and "liked immensely to hear all about them!"
Readings from Jane’s letters and novels will bring her world to life by your guide Emma Darlington, a historian, author, travel buff, Chawton volunteer, and Jane Austen fan!
