A brief tour of Abbey House followed by tea, cake and readings to celebrate Jane Austen’s life on the 250th anniversary of her birth – 16th December 1775.
Join Winchester’s professional guides for a 90 minute tour, starting at Winchester Visitor Information Centre, next door in the Guildhall.
To celebrate the 250th anniversary of Jane’s birth, we will be holding a special tea party on the day she was born at the beautiful 18th century Abbey House. Abbey House is not usually open to the public and is being made available to the Winchester Tourist Guides especially for this occasion. A brief tour of the house will be followed by tea and cake while we entertain you with stories and readings from Jane’s life and writings.
There are stairs and limited space in parts of the house which makes this tour unsuitable for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility. Numbers are limited so advance booking is recommended. The tour price includes a donation to the Mayor’s charities. Minimum age 12 years old.
Tickets are £17 including a donation to the Mayor of Winchester Charities.
Carer Ticket - Tickets for an essential carer are free. You will need to undertake a separate second transaction to the one used to purchase the other tickets for your group. Please select one ticket under general admission category, enter the promotional code CARERFREE and click apply. This allows the tickets to be purchased for free.
Tickets can be bought via Eventbrite until 9am on the morning of the tour. After this any remaining tickets can be purchased in the Visitor Information Centre.
