About this event
Jane Hunter - Abstract Landscapes in Watercolour
A workshop exploring our relationships and experiences in landscape, using watercolour, inks and a variety of mixed media to create a series of abstract paintings.
In this class we will explore methods of abstracting colours and marks from photographs and memories of a special landscape or place. You are invited to bring along some photographs of a place you have been, this could be from a special holiday, a favourite beach/forest/mountain walk or it could be a snap from a regular everyday journey.
We will spend some time thinking about what we see and feel about our places; colours, shapes, patterns, memories, feelings and use this to create a colour palette and reference of marks.
You will go on to use these colours and marks to make a series of abstract paintings which speak of your own relationship, connection and experience of your landscape or place. Using free flowing techniques in watercolours and inks to capture the essence of nature, followed with more thoughtful and meaningful mixed media marks to represent your own place within it.
