“January Extras” involves several projects running at different dates and times between Monday 9th and Friday 27th January 2017, with something for everyone.
You will be able to work alongside professionals to further develop video, web, audio and studio skills, enhance your art or design portfolio, or advance your skills as presenter, performer or musician: January Extras will provide these opportunities and many, many more.
Here’s a sneak peek at just four we’re keen to share with you now:
- Quays ‘refresh’ – a week of workshops covering all elements of production, presenting and studio skills, with the chance to work with guest professionals from the BBC or ITV.
- The Big Heritage Project - with briefs from high-end industry professionals you’ll be tasked with coming up with fantastic ideas to contribute to a very special initiative which will involve creating a series of events/films/performances/information leaflets/ artwork/creative writing/apps/animations as part of a HUGE heritage project focused around Barton Bridge.
- Create your Career – an employability event where you’ll get to meet and discuss key issues with many potential employers and industry partners.
- Celebrate Salford’s 50th birthday – the University is set to hit the half century and we are forming a media and creative arts team to capture everything special about our journey from 1967 to the present day. Film-makers, performers, creative writers, musicians, journalists, animators, historians, artists, graphic and fashion designers, and politics and literature students will all be vital to this project.

There will be two sessions taking place in the New Adelphi Theatre. 12pm-1pm and 1pm-2pm. Please select your preferred time.
From 12pm on this day, the New Adelphi Atrium will also be filled with festivities for you to enjoy! There will be a Christmas fair, a free mince pie on arrival (first come first serve), networking opportunities and entertainment taking place throughout the day. We hope to see you there!
