About this event

Family & Education • Education

January arrives differently. It doesn’t kick the door down — it lingers in corners.Cold. Quiet. More “where was I again?” than “let’s go.”

After the break, everything feels… slower. You’ve rested (hopefully). You’ve reset (sort of).And now your brain is creaking back into research mode — still stiff, still foggy, but ready for something gentle.

This is what the January Online Writing Retreat is for.

No “New Year, New Goals” agenda. No high-pressure hustle.Just one day of quiet structure, deep focus, and a shared table of PhD students also finding their footing again.

You’ll write in real time. You’ll remember how to move ideas from head to page. And by the end of the day, you’ll feel your research muscles re-engaging — without needing to prove anything to anyone.

🔗 Want support beyond the retreat?

Find me at PhD Progress Weekly on Substack or over on LinkedIn — for grounded, rhythm-based writing momentum all year long.

Frequently asked questions

WHAT IF I'M FEELING FOGGY AFTER THE BREAK?

That’s expected. This retreat is designed for a slow, supported return — no shame, no rush.

DO I NEED TO HAVE PRIOR WRITING RETREAT EXPERIENCE?

Not at all. I guide everyone through the day’s structure. You bring the project; we hold the space.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Laptop, notes, snacks, and anything else that helps you focus. You’ll get a gentle prep guide in your inbox.

CAN I ASK QUESTIONS DURING THE RETREAT?

We'll use Zoom, and you'll receive the link by email. It's very straightforward, and works from all devices. I don't record writing retreats, to allow everyone to focus on being fully present in the moment.
