Event description
Celebrate Japan Week at Ibérica with interactive Sake and tapas tasting.

About this Event

Join us for an evening of talking & tasting Sake paired with Spanish tapas as we celebrate Japan Week at Ibérica Marylebone.

Wednesday 2nd October , 7 - 9pm

Sake, a wine made from fermented rice has its origins in Japan. Whilst it is most commonly enjoyed with sushi, ramen and other Japanese foods, there are lots of other lesser-known perfect pairings for this intriguing spirit.

The category of Sake contains a vast number or varietals, makers have the possibility to use over 80 different varieties of rice in Sake production. Much like sherry Sake has a diverse spectrum of styles, from dry through to creamy and sweet, lending itself well to the colourful flavours of Spanish cuisine.

Join us as we guide you through the Sake spectrum, with an interactive tasting followed by the discovery of surprising tapas pairings from Iberica's menu.

Jamón Juan Pedro Domecq: Junmai Ginjo Sparkling Sake, Akashi-Tai

Confit artichoke with sherry sauce: Fukukomachi Junmai Karakuchi Evening Sky Sake, Kimura Shuzo

Bonito del norte, cured raw white tuna with ajoblanco & avocado: Nakadori Dewasansan Junmai Daiginjo Sake, Tatenokawa Shuzo

Pulpo with potatoes & pimentón de la Vera: Nakadori Dewasansan Junmai Daiginjo Sake, Tatenokawa Shuzo

Gloria cheesecake, served in Nacho Manzano’s Gloria restaurant : Shiraume Ginjo Umeshu Sake, Akashi-Tai

Tickets cost £35 per person & include an initial Sake tasting followed by a menu of five tapas dishes paired with Sake. Please note that tickets are for a shared table.
