Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, Jack will instruct you in the techniques to create stunning brush stroke masterpieces. Japanese brush stroke art, also known as Shodo, is a traditional art form that uses brush and ink to create artistic characters and designs. It's a form of calligraphy where the brush strokes themselves are the art, conveying emotion and meaning through their form and execution. This art form is deeply rooted in Japanese culture and history.

Join Jack for this two-hour session as he guides you through creating a little slice of this rich history for yourself.

Jack Clare

Canterbury local Jack, is a graphic designer, artist, and teacher who did his training in the Graphic Design Industry in London. He is a strong advocate of drawing skills which are demonstrated in his current body of work. Jack likes the challenge of exploiting different mediums to their full potential whether that be charcoal or Chinese Brush.

He has exhibited across Europe, and his work is in many private collections. Jack has exhibited with the Federation of British Artists – Pastel Society exhibitions at the Mall Galleries in London, The ING Discerning Eye exhibition and was successful in showing with the 2025 John Ruskin Drawing Prize at the Trinity Buoy Wharf. He was made an Associate Member of the Society of Graphic Fine Art in 2024.
