Japanese Paper Lantern Workshop (with Calligraphy)
Overview
✨ Pei's Paper Workshop: A Gentle Morning of Paper Lantern Craft & East Asian Aesthetics
Join us for a quiet, elegant morning of contemporary paper craft inspired by Japanese aesthetics, Chinese calligraphy, and East Asian minimalism.
This is not a traditional Japanese craft class — it is a modern, artist-designed experience that bridges cultures through light, texture, and mindful making.
You will create a paper lantern artwork to take home — serene, atmospheric, and softly glowing, made of natural materials. It can be used either as a lantern or as a lampshade.
The workshop guides you through several stages of making the lantern by hand: forming the wooden lantern frame, practising ink illustration, adding touches of Chinese calligraphy, and adorning the paper with pressed flowers. Enjoy combining different artistic elements to make the lantern your own.
No previous experience is required. All materials and tools will be provided.
