1 hour + Q&A: This lecture is an exploration into all types of Japanese textiles techniques and will cover the history and origins of Shibori, Katagami stencilling, Sashiko and Kogin embroidery, Boro and Kasuri woven work.

Rob will present fabrics from his extensive collection of Japanese textiles gathered on his travels and show examples of his own work and regale you with stories of his trips to Japan.

There will be vintage Boro pieces and kimono, haori jackets and a lovely saki ori obi belt to see amongst other things.

Rob Jones, from Romor Designs has been working with Japanese textiles crafts since 2011, visiting Japan to expand his skills, collect vintage Japanese fabrics and to bring students to study with acclaimed indigo guru, Bryan Whitehead.

Rob has studied Shibori resist dyeing and Katagami stencilling using indigo dye, Sashiko and Kogin embroidery and Boro inspired mending and teaches online and around London and at West Dean College near Chichester.
