Java Programming Fundamentals Course
This excellent Java Programming Evenings course, covers all basics. Java basics and the principles of Object Orientated Programming using Java.

- One lesson of 2 hours per week for 6 weeks, from 6pm - 8pm. The first date shows as the booking date.
Java Course Description
Week 1: Basics
- Java Data Types, Variables: Java primitive tdata ypes; Characters; Boolean; Working with variables and its scope; Type conversion and casting.
- Java Operators and Expressions: Introduction of operators in Java; Arithmetic operators; Relational operators; Assignment operator; Logical operators.
- Decision Making: If statement; If - else statement; If- else if - else statement; Nested if - else;
- Switch Statements.
Week 2: Loops and Strings
Using Loops in Java:
- Do-While.
- While-loop.
- For-loop. Enhanced for loop;
- Jump statements. break, continue; The return statement;
- Nesting loops.
Introduction to String class. Data cleaning and string manipulation using Java. Used for working with text-based apps, e.g. translation apps, chat bots, search engines, AI authoring,
Week 3: Arrays & ArrayLists
- Working with Java arrays, iterating arrays.
- 2-d arrays,
- Using the for-each loop
- Lists vs Arrays.
Week 4: Files
- Files and streams with Java: Open, Read and Write to CSV Files, txt files and bin files. Json Files.
- Exception Handling in Java: Fundamentals of exception handling; Java Exception types.
- Using try and catch; The finally blocks.
- Multiple catch clauses; Nested try statements; Throw and throws.
Week 5: Java Methods
- Creating Java methods;
- Calling a Method;
- Returning value from a Method; Parameters.
- Overloading methods.
Week 6: Java Classes and Objects
- Creating a Java Class; Creating Java Objects; Using an Object.
- Inheritance. Override. Polymorphism. The dot operator, this keyword, the static keywords, the super keyword.
- Instance variables.
- Class Constructors; Parameterized Constructors.
- Abstraction. Interfaces.
- Access control : private, public and protected; The final keyword.
Virtual Classroom Requirements:
This is an online event. You need an internet connection with audio. Download Java SE and Eclipse, or email us to assist you with downloads.
