Solace supports over 30,000 survivors of sexual and domestic violence across London from prevention and crisis, to recovery and independence each year.

They offer various services ranging from refuge accommodation, therapeutic services, Rape Crisis Hotline, advice & support, young people services, partnerships and training.

Tragically, we have seen a massive rise in domestic violence over the past year through the pandemic. Sadly Solace has suffered a surge in demand for their support services with more complex cases and deteriorating mental health ever increasing and calls to their advice hotline increasing exponentially ever since the pandemic. This is why we continue to help fundraise to help Solace save more survivors’ lives by helping them to escape their violent partners and regain their psychological and physical independence.

So come help us raise funds to support Solace's amazing work across London.

Looking forward to seeing you!

Thank you!!!

eCubed Team

About Anita Wardell:

Profile

Anita Wardell's singing is exciting and breathtaking. She is noted for her mesmerizing and captivating vocal improvisations and vocalese lyrics to instrumental solos. Anita is a musician who uses the voice as her instrument, displaying precision and agility, mixed with heartfelt emotion. Singer Norma Winstone praised her “unexpected vulnerability, which makes her reading of the ballads both beautiful and touching. Her honesty shines in this well-chosen collection of songs.”

Bebop pioneer, Mark Murphy, proclaimed Anita, "a gift from Australia", adding “What hits me, is how expressive her ballad singing is. Then she has the courage to scat a ballad or two, not unlike a young lady disciple of the Ben Webster school.”

In 1998 she released Straight Ahead with international star pianist Jason Rebello. Japan's most popular jazz publication, Swing Journal, gave its endorsement, writing, "she's the real thing who can fluently scat and vocalese!" Her longstanding musical relationship with pianist Robin Aspland started with the release of Until The Stars Fade in 2001 also featuring the exciting US drummer Gene Calderazzo and Jeremy Brown on bass. Jazzwise Magazine called her “energetic and inventive” while The Guardian proclaimed her “a model of the Jazz singer’s art”, highlighting her clarity, improvisational skills and emotional resonance. In 2004 she teamed up with tenor saxophonist, Benn Clatworthy, and recorded If You Never Come to Me.

Anita received the prestigious BBC Jazz Award for Best of Jazz category in 2006. In the same year she was signed to Proper Records and recorded Noted (2006) and Kinda Blue (2008).

She won the Best Vocalist category in the British Jazz Awards in 2013. Anita has travelled extensively, performing and leading jazz vocal masterclasses in USA, Europe and Australia.

About Hayley Poleon:

Hayley Poleon is a highly accomplished international vocalist. She has graced the stages of the likes of the London Palladium, Royal Albert Hall and many other prestigious London venues. Internationally she has had the pleasure of singing all over the world, notably in front of 15,000 people at the Cotai Arena at the Ventian Macau, China.

Hayley worked as the lead female vocalist for Belinda King Productions on the Queen Victoria and Queen Mary, Cunard Cruise Lines and whilst onboard was invited to sing as the lead soprano for a ‘Night at the Proms’ with the National Symphony Orchestra.

Hayley met her musician husband Dessie whilst working for Cunard Cruise lines, where they created their own group ‘The Tides’ and they now successfully run the London area of a successful function band, The Blue Lion Band. Hayley also works with other London based projects such as duo ‘Couple Up’, and she also regularly features with ‘The Mood Swings’ and the ‘London Garage Orchestra’ that all perform across the UK.

During lockdown Hayley and her husband regularly performed outside their house to the local neighbourhood, which led to many more community outreach and charity projects, which they are incredibly passionate about. Hayley is also a keen DEI advocate and released a cover of 90’s girl band Eternal’s ‘Power of a Woman’ in support of International Women’s Day 2021, which you can listen to here.
