Jazz at George IV - Moule, Francis & Wallace, “When Peggy Met Ella”
Overview
Two of the UK’s most highly respected jazz singers Shireen Francis and Sarah Moule together with the acclaimed pianist Simon Wallace (Barb Jungr, Ian Shaw, The Waterboys), present an exhilarating, upbeat show about their musical icons, Peggy Lee and Ella Fitzgerald. This celebration of Peggy and Ella features their signature songs, from the sultry swing of “Fever” and “Black Coffee”, to the joyful exuberance of “Cheek To Cheek” plus some lesser known gems from their repertoires such as “The Folks That Live On The Hill” and “Is That All That is”.
Between songs Sarah and Shireen reveal how the highs and lows of Peggy and Ella’s turbulent personal lives formed the backdrop to their stellar careers. The show has been performed in the EFG London Jazz Festival, Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho, The Royal Albert Hall and toured all over the south of England. Expect great songs interpreted with passion and panache by these hugely gifted musicians.
