Event description

Description

Birmingham Conservatoire Ellington Orchestra

Director: Jeremy Price

Master works by Duke Ellington

Followed by

Stan Tracey - Genesis Suite

“In this unique concert, the critically acclaimed Birmingham Conservatoire Ellington Orchestra play Ellington classics such as Ko Ko, Happy Go Lucky Local, Rockin’ in Rhythm and Take the A Train, followed by a rare performance of Stan Tracey’s Genesis Suite. Stan Tracey CBE (1926-2013) was the “house pianist” for Ronnie Scott’s for many years and a stalwart of the British Jazz scene. His writing for Big Band was very much influenced and inspired by that of Ellington and this concert provides the opportunity to hear the two composers side by side.”
