The Heroes will be showcasing songs from their highly acclaimed album, “A Brief Period Of Rejoicing” as well as playing some crowd pleasing old favourites, all helped along the way by the noted Kansas City boogie pianist Dean Ross.

Expect to hear an interesting mix of originals plus some hot rhythm & blues, swinging jazz & a dash of ska, including numbers from Ray Charles, Fats Domino and Chuck Berry, all influenced by the jazz and blues of New Orleans, where band leaders Ben and Emile Martyn grew up.

When brothers Ben and Emile started their musical career, this led to extensive contacts with local legends such as George Lewis, John Handy and Harold Dejan of the world-famous Olympia Brass Band. Returning to Europe they formed their own band playing music that drew on the musical energy of the American Deep South but with a twist, writing original compositions in a funky New Orleans manner but playing in a more contemporary London style.

The Martyn brothers' musical history includes playing with the likes of Dr John, James Cotton, (legendary harmonica player with Muddy Water’s Band), KT Tinstall and Ronnie Wood. With Ben Martyn on vocals & bass and Emile Martyn on drums and backing vocals the line-up is completed by Dean Ross on keyboards, Julian Webster Greaves (Shakin’ Stevens & Gilbert O’Sullivan bands) on saxophone and Rob Pearce on trombone.
