Event description

Description

A special midweek Jazz Cafe for midsummer, with top trumpeter Martin Shaw and a tribute to the great repertoire of the jazz trumpet legends including Miles Davies, Tom Harrell, Freddie Hubbard, Louis Armstrong, and many more.

One of the UK's leading jazz musicians, Martin is in demand for both live performances and studio dates and he has played and toured extensively in his own right, as well as working with many leading jazz artists including Cleo Laine, John Dankworth, Pete King, Dick Morrisey, Steve Waterman, Tim Garland and the BBC Big Band.

Along with session and television work, Martin still finds time to perform with classical ensembles and in West End shows, and he has also recorded and toured extensively with various pop artists including Sting, Jamiroquai, Natalie Cole, Jools Holland, Gorillaz, Paul Young and the Brand New Heavies. He was appointed professor of Jazz Trumpet at the University of Central England in 2001, where he continues to tutor the next generation of would-be trumpeters.
