What is it?

Are you interested in jazz or blues and want to improve your improvisation skills? Then join our Jazz Improvisation masterclass where, through a series of examples, interactive games - including call and response - motivic development and some scale theory (don’t worry, only a little!), attendees can gain a better understanding of the skills required to improvise in jazz or blues.

Who is it for?

Anyone aged 11-18 years old who have been playing their instrument or singing for a few years.

When is it?

Monday 27th July 2020 at 12pm.

Joe Browne

Joe Browne is a London-based saxophonist, violinist, composer, teacher and animateur. As a player, he is busy on the London jazz and world music scenes.

Ben Royston

Ben is a versatile musician with interests and experience in a range of different musical styles and genres. A classically trained multi-instrumentalist, he regularly plays in rock and pop bands, orchestras, Musical Theatre shows, afrobeat and jazz band formats. Ben is a graduate of the University of Leeds where, in addition to performance, he also focused on composition and orchestration. Ben has experience writing and recording in studios and for shows. With his bands, he has toured Europe and supported acts such as Arctic Monkeys, Ellie Goulding and Huey Morgan (Fun Lovin' Criminals).

Ben has further professional experience in a SEN school, instrumental teaching and organising music workshops.

By signing up to this event, you/your parent or guardian is consenting to your participation in this virtual event on Zoom. All our teachers are employees of Kent Music, have up-to-date training, are fully DBS checked and are experienced professionals. The event will also be attended and monitored by DBS-checked admin staff from Kent Music to ensure the participants' safety and security throughout.
