ABOUT DJ IXYALA

Hailing from South London, IXYALA is a dynamic Afrohouse and Afrotech music producer and DJ redefining the underground soundscape. Formerly known as DJ Dris, IXYALA has evolved into a sonic force, blending pulsating tribal rhythms, futuristic synths, and deep basslines into a powerful Afro-electronic experience.

With roots deeply embedded in both African musical heritage and London’s diverse club culture, IXYALA’s sets are an electrifying journey through ancestral energy and modern innovation. His sound is bold, immersive, and unapologetically rhythmic — designed to move bodies and awaken spirits on dancefloors worldwide.

IXYALA is more than a name change; it’s a rebirth. A new era of sound, soul, and sonic storytelling. AfroTech is just the beginning.

ABOUT CJ

Born and raised in East London, CJ is a multi-talented artist whose music, performance, and storytelling are rooted in authenticity, resilience, and growth.

His creative journey began through musical theatre and spoken word, finding early expression on stage

After the passing of his father Music became more than a creative outlet — it became a vessel for survival, healing, and connection.

Balancing lyrical honesty with rhythmic storytelling, CJ embodies the spirit of Empower From Within: using creativity as a tool for empowerment, connection, and change. His journey stands as proof of what happens when talent, opportunity, and resilience come together — and when a young artist chooses to turn his story into a source of strength for others.

ABOUT RED EARTH COLLECTIVE

The Red Earth Collective is a band drawn from alumni of Youthsayers, the youth music charity run by Robin Hopcraft and Idris Rahman from Soothsayers that provides free music opportunities for young people who want to experience group music making in culturally relevant genres such as afrobeat, jazz and reggae.

The line-up is a flexible collective of young musicians who are emerging onto the music scene through connecting with like-minded young musicians to form their own bands, writing original music and forging their own paths into the industry, through touring and recording with established artists, and through developing their practice with further study at conservatoires and universities. All of these young people have spent formative years with Youthsayers developing their confidence, their skills and their love of making music, and the Red Earth Collective is an opportunity for them to continue to deepen their connection to the music and to each other, and to develop their creativity in front of audiences in professional settings.

The music is chosen and arranged by the band and includes a mixture of high energy afrobeat grooves, from Fela Kuti to contemporary tunes drawn from the current lively afrobeat scene spearheaded by bands such as Ezra Collective, as well as reggae classics, jazz and heavy dub, and the band is forging their own unique identity with fresh takes and new arrangements and compositions which are defining their exuberant and joyful sound.

The Red Earth Collective hold a regular session on the first Saturday of the month at the Effra Hall Tavern in Brixton and are playing their first show at the Jazz Cafe this autumn, supporting Soothsayers on their 25th anniversary album showcase on 21 st September.
