About this event

"Beamed down from planet Jazz, Vasilis Xenopoulos is a rare gem in the Jazz Universe."

Beamed down from Planet Jazz, Vasilis Xenopoulos is a rare gem in the jazz universe—personable, accomplished, and radiating the intelligence, perception, and humour of Sophocles himself! A truly brilliant musician and a wonderful human being, Vasilis has earned the love and respect of both fellow musicians and audiences across the international jazz circuit.

This evening, he brings with him a stellar band, featuring:
🎷 Vasilis Xenopoulos – Saxophone
🎸 Nigel Price – Guitar
🎻 Jeremy Brown – Double Bass
🥁 Steve Brown – Drums

Vasilis Xenopoulos is celebrated for his fiery performances and genuine representation of straight-ahead jazz. Praised by The Times as "one of the most fiery young saxophonists around," Vasilis has firmly established himself in the UK jazz scene since his graduation from Berklee College of Music.

London Jazz News hails Vasilis as "a great asset to the UK jazz scene," and with good reason. Since his arrival from Greece, he has become one of the most exhilarating saxophonists around, known for his straight-ahead, high-energy style infused with deep musicality.

Joining him, the formidable Nigel Price brings his signature blend of bebop lines and blues sensibility, while the rock-solid rhythm section of Jeremy Brown and Steve Brown ensures a night of swing, groove, and pure musical magic.

Famous Hospitality and World Class Jazz in an intimate venue

In December 2014, the Club moved to a new home, the world famous Cabbage Patch in London Road, Twickenham. We're right in the middle of town, a stroll from Twickenham Station and with excellent bus services that stop virtually outside the door, the new venue promises to deliver even better jazz on a regular basis in a more accessible location where the Club continues to build its reputation as the best Jazz Club in South West London.

Our loyal band of regulars are the lifeblood of the Twickenham Jazz Club and we aim to reward them by continuing to bring together the best "home-grown" and International jazz talent around.
