Jazz Steps Live at the Libraries: Ben Martin Quartet - West Bridgford Library
Overview
Expect great jazz club vibes with Ben’s expressive and versatile performing on his cherished vintage Selmer saxophones, accompanied by an ace trio.
With over a decade performing together, this quartet will showcase a curated selection of jazz standards and classic songs.
Ben Martin has been described as a “seriously good saxophonist” and a “soloist of immaculate taste and lyricism” by The Guardian newspaper. He has performed all over the world with stellar artists including Sir Paul McCartney, Groove Armada and Kenny Wheeler.
Ben’s trio are Matt Ratcliffe, a virtuoso pianist whose improvisations add depth and sparkle, Martyn Spencer, bassist who anchors the ensemble with rhythm and groove, and the dynamic drummer Andrew ‘Woody’ Wood whose subtle nuances and creative flourishes complete the quartet’s sound.
