Event description

Description

JCI Leeds is delighted to host the 2017 Regional Extempore Competition. Extempore (speaking 'off the cuff') is an extremely useful skill, and this event will be a great opportunity to practice your improvisational speaking in front of a supportive audience.

There are 3 rounds in total. Participants will improvise short speeches focused on random objects, quotations and song lyrics. You may hear inspirational and humourous tales about magnets, windmills, or wooden spoons (!). We'll provide a buffet; you just need to bring a creative approach to public speaking.

Can you impress our eclectic judging panel and win the coveted title of JCI Yorkshire’s 2017 Extempore Champion?

Please note that only members from the following chambers are eligible to compete:

  • JCI Boston
  • JCI Barnsley
  • JCI Bradford
  • JCI Doncaster
  • JCI Leeds
  • JCI Rotherham
  • JCI Sheffield

Non-members and members from other chambers are more than welcome to attend as audience members. Hope you can join us for an entertaining afternoon of improv speaking!

For a rule refresher, please contact Mark Smith, Regional Group Chairperson of JCI Yorkshire: mark.smith@jciuk.org.uk

Please note that this competition will be held in Room G4 (Ground Floor) of BPP University Law School.
