Frequently Asked Questions:

What should I wear for the One Fun Run?
Comfortable clothing and trainers with tread if possible (eg trail running shoes), as there will be mud and water obstacles which may be slippery with limited grip. For every £100 you raise you will get a free One Fun Run t shirt (up to the number of people in your team) which many One Fun Runners choose to wear for the event. Please note the course includes mud and water so expensive, new trainers might get ruined! Please consider removing your watch and jewellery, as these may also get wet/muddy. JDRF accepts no responsibility for items damaged during the course.

Although the colour powder is Non-Toxic Certified / Non-Irritant to Skin Certified and conforms to EN-71-3 Standards, they might still cause an allergic reaction to those who have asthma, allergies or are sensitive to dust. We recommend you protect your eyes and face from exposure to the coloured powder during the event by wearing sunglasses. We do not recommend wearing contact lenses. You can also cover your hair with a bandana or hat during the event if you wish.

Can I participate if I am pregnant or I have some health issues?
If you are pregnant or have any issues with your health we recommend you to consult your doctor before entering the One Fun Run. Although our mission is to make the race as safe as possible to every participant, there is always the possibility of unforeseeable incidents (such as falling or bumping into another person). The paint powder and smoke may also cause irritation for people with asthma or breathing problems.

Are there any water obstacles?
Some obstacles involve water, potentially up to waist height in depth depending on recent rainfall and the height of the participant. If you or any of your party are not confident in water, these obstacles can be walked around instead, just ask the marshal. We strongly recommend that people with no swimming ability go around the deeper water parts of the course.

How do I clean up after I’ve finished the course?

We recommend you bring a change of clothes, some towels or a large plastic bag with you to prevent your car or transport from getting coloured. After you have finished the event try to shake and clean as much excess colour off as possible. It’s best to wash any paint covered clothes separately.

Can my friend act as a volunteer at the One Fun Run?
Yes any friends or family members who are attending but not taking part would be welcome to volunteer! We have several roles available including obstacle supervisors and paint throwers. Please email scotland@jdrf.org.uk for more info.

Can my dog take part in the One Fun Run?
No, dogs are not allowed on the One Fun Run obstacle course. They are allowed at the venue, and on the One Walk route, provided they are kept on a lead at all times, and any mess is cleaned up. Please also keep dogs away from the colour paint powder and smoke.

Can I come in fancy dress?

Please do! Be as creative as you wish, it really adds to the event. Our World Diabetes Day theme is Superheroes. Why not dress up as your favourite character?

Can I listen to my music/mp3 player during the One Fun Run?
Please refrain from doing this for your own safety, so you are able to hear instructions from the route marshals. There will be music played in the walk village.
