Description

JERSEY SINGS IS SAVED AND RETURNS! THANK YOU TO OUR DONORS.

Jersey Sings! returns for its fourth year. Educational charity Music In Action is delighted to bring you an exciting programme consisting of popular music through the decades, ranging from Coldplay's "Viva la Vida", "The Greatest Showman", Disney's "Moana", Hans Christian Anderson, and Abba.

Tickets bought via android phone, iphone or Ipad will not have the option to choose seats. Seat choice is only available using a laptop or desktop computer.

Each night sees 700 smiling, excited children singing their hearts out directed by Guinness world record breaking conductor, David Lawrence and his Musical Director Craig McLeish. Both David and Craig have helped the schools work towards the goal of joining 29 young school choirs in Jersey to create two choirs totalling around 1,400 children who will perform and thus create an exciting wall of sound for the audience.

This year, the choir will be performing a song written by local composer Rebecca Lawrence in Jerriais in order to celebrate Jersey's rich cultural heritage. Jersey's Royal Showground will be transformed into a concert venue with a festival atmosphere and a 7-piece rock band. The choir will also be joined by 2 international artists, Joanna Forbes L'Estrange and Elliott Morris and a young Jersey singer soloist Faye Katsande. The event will also commemorate the one hundred year anniversary of women gaining the right to vote, via a song entitled "The Suffragette March".

The concert showcases a 3 month learning project in Jersey's schools and is produced by charity Music in Action in partnership with the Young Voices project in the UK, the Jersey Music Service and supported by Ogier, Sir John Knott Trust and Stage 2 Productions.

It will be an excitingly current concert - not to be missed!

The concert will start promptly at 6:30pm.

FAQs

What do I need to bear in mind when booking tickets?

Please note that in order for the event to go ahead we have had to move from Fort Regent at very short notice which unfortunately no longer meets fire regulations. This has meant making compromises. Our aim has been to give the children taking part the best possible experience. The children will be sat undercover in a Marquee with the sides open. If there is inclement weather the children may have to sing from inside the New Arena with the audience outdoors and looking in through a wall of glass bay windows some of which will be opened up. This may effect visibility depending on where you are sat. Few of the seats are able to be raked and so you should expect to see the overall spectacle but will not necessarily see your child.

The plan indicates where we will attempt to place each school based on schools confirmed numbers at the date that tickets have gone on sale. However, if numbers change then we will have to move the school children around a little to avoid gaps forming on the stage. This means that your child may not be sat where they are indicated on this plan. The earlier that you buy your ticket the better in terms of being closer to the front.

Which Block is my child in?

JCG Block A & B, Plat Douet Block B, Rouge Bouillon Block B, Samares Block B, Springfield Block B, St Martins Block A & B, Grouville Block A, La Moye Block A, St Lawrence Block A, St Johns Block A, D’Auvergne Block C, The Little Jersey Wonders Block C.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Parking is available on the site however with around 850 cars expected allow plenty of time to park. Car sharing where possible is always recommended for both convenience and endorsing eco awareness. It is worth mentioning that there is also an excellent bus service to Trinity, the number 4 stops outside the church.

What can I bring into the event?

Tea and coffee and drinks will be available to purchase throughout the show. No alcohol will be allowed into the venue.

What happens if it rains?

Just like Glastonbury which is a week later, the show will go on - hopefully without the mud! Please bring waterproofs if it looks as though rain is forecast as the children will be undercover but the audience will be seated on chairs on the lawn. Umbrellas will not be permitted as they will affect the view of people behind you.
