Course description:
Join embroidery artist Jessica Grady to create your own festive fabric hanging decorations using mixed recycled threads, simple hand embroidery stitches and embellishments.
Jessica will show you how to choose your decoration shape, decorate it with hand-embroidery and embellishments including buttons, sequins and beads and stitch and stuff to create your completed design. You will leave the workshop with up to 5 of your own unique festive decorations to hang in your home or on your Christmas tree. This is a colourful and mindful stitch workshop that is all about enjoying the process, building your ideas and having fun!
Who is the course for?
This class is suitable for all abilities, with no prior stitching experience necessary. Minimum age requirement: 16 years unaccompanied
Do I need to bring anything?
All materials and tools are provided. Please feel free to bring any of your own embellishments or materials to incorporate, should you wish.
Your Tutor
Jessica Grady is an award-winning embroidery artist, tutor and author from West Yorkshire, England. Her work is a colourful and creative exploration of hand stitch and mixed media, and she utilises waste and recycled materials, which are transformed into exciting embellishments. Jessica is passionate about playing and exploring materials to create fun artworks that take otherwise discarded materials and turn them into embellished treasure. She creates detailed sculptures and wall-framed artwork, all showcasing her signature style.
Jessica’s work has been exhibited in the UK, Europe and Asia, and she shares her skills across the UK and beyond through workshops and lectures. Her first book, Stitched Mixed Media was published in 2023 with Crowood Press.
The Venue
Craft Leeds is based in the centre of the city, easily accessible via a variety of public transport options. Unfortunately, we do not have a dedicated car park, but there are many options in the city. We are a functioning Gallery/Shop space open to the public, allowing for inspiration to be all around in this unique workshop environment.
