Event description

Description

Jesus College provides a programme across the academic year to help Jesus students improve their writing skills. The idea is to help make the transition from secondary education to university studies go as smoothly as possible and to encourage all students to fulfill their potential here. While designed for undergraduate freshers, those in other years and graduate students may also benefit from the programme, and are most welcome to attend any of the sessions if there is space available.

We have arranged a series of practical sessions on academic skills throughout the year. Attendance at these sessions is strongly recommended, but the places are limited. These sessions aim to improve and hone all aspects of your work here at Cambridge, which will prove invaluable later on.

This session considers supervisions. Cambridge is full of strange sounding terms like ‘supervision’ that can be confusing and which have all kinds of tacit expectations and conventions. Whether you’re a new or returning student, this session aims to demystify the supervisory system and give techniques to get the most out of supervisions and supervisors.

By the end of this session, participants ought to:

  • Understand what a ‘supervision’ is;
  • Understand how supervisors understand supervisions;
  • Know how best to prepare for supervisions;
  • Be able to get the most out of supervisions;
  • Know how to manage the relationship with the supervisor.

Please sign up using your CRSId and University email, as only Jesus College students will be admitted to the session.
