Jewellery & Silversmithing Workshop: Make a Sterling Silver Pendant
Sat 26 November 2016, 10:00 – 13:00 GMT
During this workshop you will be guided through all the traditional silversmithing techniques you will need to design and create your own unique sterling silver pendant to take away at the end of the class. For example your pendant could be a heart, your initial, a teardrop or your own original design - the choice is yours!
Along the way you will learn the key techniques of hand-sawing, filing, drilling, doming and soldering. You will also be shown decorative finishes such as matt, hammered and reticulated to make your finished piece of jewellery individual to you .
The first part of the workshop will be an introduction and demonstration of the techniques required, and the remainder of the session you will be working on your own design of pendant under my close supervision and guidance.
Please arrive at Banks Mill Studios at 9.45 am and buzz my studio (Studio 2.8) and I will come down and meet you in the foyer before going up to my studio. It is advisable to wear old clothes, and for health and safety no open toe shoes and long hair to be tied back. Tea, coffee, soft drinks and biscuits will be provided.
The price does not include the cost of materials. All the sterling silver required to make your jewellery can be bought on the day, approximately £8 of silver will make a pendant, depending on the design you choose.
