Jewellery & Silversmithing Workshop: Make a Sterling Silver Ring
Sat 15 October 2016, 10:00 – 16:00 BST
At this workshop you will learn all the skills needed to make a sterling silver band ring to take away at the end of the class. You will be shown how to size and shape your ring, along with the key techniques of hand-sawing, filing and soldering. Once you have been shown the basic method of how to make your ring, you will be able to personalise it how you choose, including the height, finished texture, or maybe add a little heart or star, for example.
At each stage of the process there will be an introduction and demonstration of the techniques required to make the ring of your choice.
Please arrive at Banks Mill Studios at 9.45 am and buzz my studio (Studio 2.8) and I will come down and meet you in the foyer before going up to my studio. It is advisable to wear old clothes, and for health and safety no open toe shoes and long hair to be tied back.
Tea, coffee, soft drinks and biscuits will be provided but please bring a packed lunch as this is not included in the day.
The price does not include the cost of materials. All the sterling silver required to make your jewellery can be bought on the day, approximately £10 of silver will make one ring, depending on the design you choose.
It is metered on-street car parking on the streets around Banks Mill Studios.
