This latest JFA Accounting Masterclass, which has been successfully running since 2017, has once again been designed in response to demand from the funds community for fund specific, detailed technical training.

The Masterclass covers key accounting challenges facing Jersey's fund accountants, fund auditors and directors (executive and non-executive).

Delivered as a practitioner’s guide over three highly relevant modules, this short course is designed to prepare Jersey’s funds community to meet current accounting challenges before the annual year end and audit cycle begins in earnest.

Presented by senior accounting practitioners from KPMG, Deloitte and PwC, the master-class will cover:

MODULE 1: Investments Valuations – PWC, Mike Byrne and Nadine van der Westhuizen
• Summary of updates to IPEV Guidelines;
• Practical PE valuation issues and trends;
• Overview of Private Debt valuations, including application of IFRS 9;

MODULE 2: Application of Jersey’s Economic Substance Law – KPMG, Paul Eastwood
• Background to the introduction of Jersey’s Economic Substance Law;
• Outline of Jersey’s economic substance test: the law and guidance;
• Practical application - what do you need to be doing/thinking about now.

MODULE 3: Accounting Standards Updates for funds – Deloitte, TBC
• IFRS 16 applicable to RE funds;
• Accounting for carried interest under IFRS 15;
• US GAAP for Funds overview;
