JIB North West Region event to address key industry challenges
Expert speakers lined up to discuss local solutions to challenges of skills and procurement.
Representatives from companies in the electrotechnical and the wider built environment will join a line up of expert speakers to address regional solutions to national challenges. The event taking place on 6 June in Macnhester, wil focus on two key topics - skills and procurement.
Joe Crolla, Industry Skills Intelligence Lead at Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), and Chris Fletcher, Director at Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, will bring a regional perspective on how to achieve stronger collaboration between education and industry. Andrew Eldred, Chief Operating Officer, ECA, will discuss ways to respond to the skills and competence challenge in Greater Manchester’s electrotechnical sector, and Richard Clarke, National Apprenticeships and Skills Officer at Unite the Union, will share insights into how the region can better support electrical training, competence and safety standards.
There will be ample opportunity for those attending to join the discussion before the programme then shifts focus onto opportunities arising from the Procurement Act 2023 and the Greater Manchester approach to procurement. Rob Driscoll, ECA Director of Legal and Business and Jason Poulter, National Officer Construction at Unite, will provide insights on both current and possible future reforms to procurement, and Lee Rossall, Commercial Lead at GMCA, will talk about the Greater Manchester approach.
