Jill Poole Memorial Lecture
Wed 8 March 2017, 18:00 – 20:30 PST
Professor Jill Poole’s contribution to legal scholarship – particularly in commercial and contract law - is beyond comparison and she inspired countless generations of Law students and academics. Following on from her tragic and untimely death in May 2016, Aston Law School has instituted an annual lecture series in her name. The purpose of the series is to celebrate and further Jill’s enthusiasm for legal scholarship in the areas that most characterise her work; most notably commercial & contract law, contemporary issues in legal practice, women in the academy .
We are delighted to announce that the inaugural lecture will take place on 8 March and will be delivered by Lord Thomas of Cwmgiedd. As the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales, Lord Thomas is the most senior member of the judiciary in England & Wales. His connections with the Commercial Bar and Wales further reinforce his suitability in launching this important lecture series.
Jill’s family and Aston University have established an Educational Fund to support students wishing to study Law. Further information can be found here.
