Join Dr Jane Pearson for this talk that examines the difficulties involved in attempts to control Colchester's serious prostitution problem which followed the arrival of the garrison in Colchester in 1856. We will look at who the 'girls' and their customers were, and why the town's various authorities were unable to reduce the problem.
