Jo Davies Ceramics Exhibition, Talk & Workshops 7th - 14th April 2017
In conjunction with the Crafts Council’s ‘Hey Clay!’ event, the Committee of Taste is delighted to welcome back the wonderful ceramicist Jo Davies to the Stables Café, Gladstone Park. ‘Hey Clay!' is a national celebration of clay with events nationwide throughout 7th - 9th April.
Jo Davies specialises in wheel-thrown and hand-built porcelain, bringing years of experience and craftsmanship to every object made. The enjoyment of the making process and the continuing development of an evolving creativity are what drives her practice. As a Royal College of Art graduate, and experienced studio-ceramics practitioner, Jo Davies has become a respected Designer-Maker.
From Friday 7th April - Friday 14th April, there will be an exhibition of Jo Davies’ ceramics with the opportunity to view and purchase her unique range of porcelain vessels, tableware and lighting.
We are thrilled to be hosting a series of events to coincide with this exhibition.
Friday 7th April :
Opening event. 6pm - 8pm.
Jo Davies will be at the Stables Café to launch our ‘Hey Clay!’ exhibition and events. A wonderful opportunity to meet the ceramicist herself and pick up some beautiful pieces. Light refreshments will be available to purchase.
Saturday 8th April :
An informal talk by Jo Davies. 12.00pm - 12.30pm.
A wonderful opportunity to find out more about her practice and inspirations. Jo will also talk about getting into a creative/ceramics career and will be happy to take questions from budding creatives on this subject.
Free event. Booking essential.
Saturday 8th April:
Creative porcelain workshop lead by Jo Davies. 3pm - 5pm.
Participants will create functional and non-functional artwork by imprinting textures, plants and objects into porcelain clay creating embossed images onto the surface of your own unique objects - from plates to platters to 'clay canvases', make art you can hang on the wall or even eat from! This workshop will provide a wonderful opportunity for participants of all abilities to get creative under the guidance of Jo. No prior experience necessary. £35 per person.
Payments taken for bookings at the Stables Café do not incur the online charge.
Booking Essential. Please note items cannot be taken away on the day as they have to be fired off site. Participants will be able to pick up the items they’ve made from The Stables Café shortly afterwards (date to be confirmed) or arrange a delivery.

Taster wheel-throwing sessions led by the Committee of Taste’s wonderful Potter in Residence, Isatu Hyde. 10am - 3pm.
Attendees will get the opportunity to have a go at throwing a pot on a potter’s wheel under the brilliant guidance of Isatu.
Free session. Booking essential. Each session will be 20 - 30 minutes long. A small charge will be requested to cover costs if you wish to have your piece fired and finished and collect at a later date.

As spaces are limited we kindly ask that anyone wishing to cancel their booking for one of our free events informs us as soon as possible so that we can open the space up for others wishing to attend.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
All activities are suitable for those aged 13 +
Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
