Event description
Steps to Success: What the Biopsychosocial Model really means in practice

About this Event

The Biopsychosocial Model (BPSM) is now widely acknowledged as the primary way of delivering care to patients. Less clear, however, is how we actually use this model practically to inform the way we communicate, treat and ultimately affect outcomes.

This talk will look at how to use the BPSM to evaluate prognosis of recovery from injury and how we can use specific communication strategies to help to influence rehabilitation.

This event is aimed at any healthcare professionals and will include a certificate of attendance to evidence two hours of Continued Professional Development.

Agenda:

  • Evaluation of the Biopsychosocial Model
  • '6 things that will stop your patient getting better (...and what to do about it): What a Biopsychosocial Approach really means within practice
  • 'Its all about the E's': Getting to grips with what really affects your outcomes and how to improve them
  • 'Empathy is your superpower': How to use communication to effect patient outcomes

Speaker:

Jo Gibson is a Clinical Physiotherapy Specialist who has specialised in rehabilitation of patients with shoulder problems since 1995, working at the Liverpool Upper Limb Unit and in private practice.

She lectures nationally and internationally about assessment and rehabilitation of the shoulder complex and is a Consultant to several elite sports teams regarding shoulder rehabilitation.
