Event description

Description

Join us for a lunchtime roundtable discussion on why and how employers can provide secure work for employees. We will discuss the business benefits, including increased retention and productivity, a more diverse workforce and better health and wellbeing in your workforce, as well as the practicalities in making changes within your organisation.

Sandy Macdonald, Head of Sustainability at Standard Live Aberdeen and Chair of Living Wage Scotland will share insights from his own organisation and the Edinburgh Poverty Commission, including the impact that the living wage and living hours can have on improved job security as part of a fair working environment.

Kat Brogan, Managing Director of Mercat Tours will also share insights of how her organisation made the move away from zero-hours contracts, the reasoning behind this shift and challenges to achieving it as well as the business benefits of doing so.

We will also hear from Rosalind Wilson from the Scottish Government on how job security fits within the wider fair work framework and its importance to the Scottish Government’s vison for creating a wellbeing economy in Scotland.
