One of the worlds finest singer-pianists in a sublime setting

On 31 October the City will have a rare treat - the internationally renowned Joe Stilgoe playing live in the Guild Church of St Mary Aldermary, a sublime, fan-vaulted Wren church in the heart of the City of London.

Chart topping singer-pianist Joe Stilgoe will be treating the audience to a set that promises to be "delightful ... clever, witty and charming *****" (The Scotsman) in this inaugural fundraiser for the Moot Community.

Tickets include a complimentary pre-performance glass of wine, courtesy of our kind sponsors Planet of the Grapes and Bacchanalia.

Doors will be open from 6.30pm.  The stylish Host Cafe will also be open from 6.30pm and during the interval for purchase of hand-roasted coffee, loose-lead teas, cold drinks and delicious cakes.

Nearest tubes: Mansion House exit 4, Bank.

Nearest National Rail: Cannon Street Station, Blackfriars Station.

Joe is one of the world's finest singer‐pianists, touring constantly with his band and as a solo act, having appeared at Ronnie Scott's, the Royal Festival Hall, The Queen Elizabeth Hall, The Barbican, The London Jazz Festival, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Edinburgh Festival, Henley Festival, Barbados Festival, Sardinia Jazz Festival, Sicily Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, Dubai Jazz Festival and in jazz clubs from New York to Berlin to Kuala Lumpur.  He made his solo debut at the Edinburgh Fringe where his show One Hour! was a sell-out and garnered much critical acclaim (5 stars in The Scotsman). His second album ‐ 'We Look to the Stars', which immediately went straight to the top of the jazz charts while garnering rave reviews from the national press.

Joe's recent single, a swinging new version of Steve Miller’s breakthrough song ‘Abracadabra’, also went straight ot the top of the jazz charts.  Already a storming addition to Joe’s live set, this brassy, dramatic and cheeky burst of joy, with hints of John Barry-era James Bond and Quincy Jones leaving Michael Caine dangling off a mountain, has already excited the coterie of early listeners, including recent collaborator Tim Minchin, who declared it ‘AMAZING’.

Joe has worked extensively on radio, appearing on the Now Show and The Horne Section for Radio 4, and has been a contributor and special guest with Richard Madeley, Alan Carr, Michael Parkinson and numerous other Radio 2 programmes including Friday Night Is Music Night. Joe srites songs for many other artists, and gives masterclasses across the country in performance and improvisation.
