Event description

Description

This informal session is all about the music. Bring your young ones along for a great introduction to live music, as Joe Thompson and his fellow musicians play you the best in jazz and show you how it’s done – just like they’ve done at The Ivy Club the night before!

Perfect for aspiring young musicians, or families who want some quality musical time together. This really is some of the best jazz in town, and when you pair it with an espresso from our café, makes for the hippest family scene around.

Joining Joe on July 1st is trumpet impresario Mark Armstrong. As well as being a phenomenal trumpet player, Mark is the musical director of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Professor at the Royal College of music. He will be teaming up with our very own “Jazz Professor” Joe Thompson and the sublime Charlie Pyne on double bass to inspire and educate the young musicians of Blackheath, and of course to blow the roof off the building with his trumpet. Teenage musicians especially encouraged to come along!

There will be a workshop before the concert for any young musicians interested in improvising or improving their performance skills, whatever the instrument or the style of music. Limited places available.
