Event description

Description

John Adams and Emi Mcdade combine for an intimate evening of beautiful voices and storytelling.

John Adams

A Singer/Songwriter/Busker hailing from Aberdare in the South Wales Valleys. His acoustic approach compliments a unique and impressive vocal ability and his song writing shares innermost thoughts, and purposeful observations.

"Born performer, whose smile has the ability to blind and whose voice has the ability to pierce the heart" - Musicroom.com

After John’s debut album, aptly named "The Pavement is My Stage" reached No.7 in the iTunes Singer/Songwriter charts he took a leap of faith and left his job as a Mathematics Teacher. That gamble paid off and John has gone on to support household names such as Take That, Lemar, Stooshe, T’Pau and Katherine Jenkins. His hard work and impressive live performance has gained a strong following of 21,000 twitter followers, 28,000 Facebook fans and over 6 million views on YouTube.

"Perfect vocals, and the way his story telling lyrics unfold keep you transfixed from beginning to end" - WalesOnline

Eager to show his progression John will be releasing his EP “You Never Know Who’s Listening” this year which combines his live organic sound with a minimal electronic production to make a sound that is satisfyingly different from the usual guitar wielding Singer/Songwriter. The first release “Dandelion Wishes” has received over two million plays on Spotify promising to be this year’s most talked about viral Spotify hit. This was followed by his latest single “See You Again” that has already been play listed by BBC Radio Wales and been awarded BBC Wales/Arts Council Launchpad funding.

“Haunting vocals and natural lyricism” - Celebmix

John spends his life on the road busking and performing and is a regular face at the UK’s largest festivals including Sportsbeat Festival, The Isle of Wight Festival, Grillstock, Lechlade Festival, Ponty’s Big Weekend Victorious Festival, lakefest, Wychwood Festival and Glass Butter Beach Festival.

“John Adams has the ability to capture a mood and emotion solely through his voice” - Music Crowns

Earlier in his career John appeared on The X Factor singing "Cannonball" by Damien Rice. He reached the last 12 boys and was widely credited for getting "Cannonball" back into the charts. Making chart history as the first time a song had re-entered at a higher position than the original release.

Emi McDade

Gloiucester based Emi grew up in a musical family and spent most of her childhood years toddling around her mother's music school, it was only natural that Emi should have a love for music. Though her background training was largely classical, Emi always harboured a love for the singer/songwriter genres. Thanks to a challenge set by a 'Rock Choir' leader at age 14, Emi began songwriting. This was the beginning.

“It's not very often you can say that you've been swept off your feet or left swooning from the sheer power and raw emotion from an artist's songwriting or vocal presence.” - The Flux Presents

Since then, Emi has performed on stages such as BBC Introducing, Ronnie Scott's, Guildhall, Sofar Sounds, Thekla, The Bedford, and many others, headlining the Acoustic Stage of Dot to Dot Festival, as well as supporting artists such as JP Cooper, Mike Dignam, Tom Crouch, Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker, and performed alongside artists such as Jasmine Thompson.

"Effortlessly flicks between haunting and gorgeously sweet" - Alex Rogers(Radio 1 and 1Xtra)

With recent singles, Emi has received extensive radio play throughout the UK, Australia, and America (as well as regular play on BBC and BBC Introducing), and became a featured artist on Noel Edmund's new radio 'Positively Talented'.

"An impressive listen" - Huw Stephens(Radio 1)
