Yes! The John O'Groats Mill is fully accessible with two wheelchair lifts on site.

Are children allowed to visit?

Absolutely. The mill has many fun activities for children, including hands-on exhibitions, our lego hunt activity sheets, and colouring in.

The John O'Groats Mill not-for-profit heritage visitor attraction and community venue, just a stones throw away from the iconic John O’Groats signpost.

Built in 1901, operated until 2001, and opened as a museum in 2025, the John O’Groats Mill is the last working water-powered grain mill in Caithness.

Come and visit the mill for free! We will be conducting guided tours at 12pm, 1:30pm, and 3pm, but feel free to pop by any time between 10am-4pm. We will also be running children's activities all day.

We do not have a cafe but do have a coffee machine and indoor and outdoor seating. Picnics and packed lunches are welcomed and encouraged on the premises.
