Description

This day celebrates the life, work and impact on society of John Ruskin (1819-1900), the most original and influential art theorist and social reformer of his time. The two background lectures look at the life of Ruskin and his influence in particular on the Arts and Crafts Movement. The afternoon visit will be to the Victorian Galleries and the Sheepshanks Collection at the Victoria & Albert Museum which includes works by Constable, Landseer, Mulready and other important contemporary artists, reflecting the taste and ideals of the mid-nineteenth century.
