Description

Join our guided walk - The Three Loughs

A rare chance to do some "lough" bagging with some unusual plants and plenty of evidence of otters and crayfish.

Our walk begins by using the boardwalk through reed beds to the National Nature Reserve at Greenlee Lough. We then head east to pick up the Pennine Way before going around the shoreline of Broomlee Lough with its contrasting geology and flora and which is home to otters and our native crayfish. Our return leg provides excellent views of Hadrian's Wall from the north before we finish by passing Crag Lough, the last of the three loughs, all relics of the last Ice Age more than 10,000 years ago.

Discover the best routes in the Northumberland National Park on our Volunteer Guided Walks. Get outside, enjoy your time walking and leave the planning and navigation to us; it’s what we’re best at.

Nobody knows the best places to walk in the National Park like our volunteers so you’ll never be short of local history, stories, features and viewpoints.

To avoid disappointment we recommend you book your tickets in advance online as places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Please dress for changeable weather, wear walking boots or shoes and bring drinks and snacks. Sorry, dogs are not allowed on this walk. If you have not already booked online, please pay on arrival.

Lace up your boots and enjoy a great time outside.
