Come and join us for an inclusive walk, we'll meet at Cairn Wood car park, near the access ramp to the woodland. https:///warnings.opts.shutting

Meet from 10am with walk starting at 10.15am, when the group will be guided by Richard Franklyn on a gentle walk along the Ballysallagh Trail path. We'll return to the car park and wrap up with a free hot cuppa at 12noon. Wrap up warmly.

The aim of this event is to make the outdoors inclusive for all so trained instructors will be on hand to provide any necessary support/ guidance where required.

The gentle hike will be suitable for individuals (aged 18+) with disabilities, limited mobility and wheelchair users. The walk will follow a forest trail route through Cairnwood forest.

The Inclusive walk series is organised in partnership with Ards and North Down Borough Council, Mountaineering Ireland and The Outdoor Partnership NI.

Route information:

This session will start in Cairnwood car park with staff available to support access via ramp to the trail and offer participants the chance to explore the woods. The walk will follow the Ballysallagh, red, trail for approximately a mile and then return to the car park (total distance will be adjusted to enable all participants). The path is generally flat with one uphill and one downhill short sections, surface is of compacted stone and quarry dust surface, fairly even, wide and accessible to wheelchair with support or motorised wheelchair.

Carers will be welcome to partake in the walks if they wish.

Facilities:

Free accessible parking available.

Accessible toilets available at end of car park. We will provide hot drinks after the walk.
