Hosted and convened by Prof Purna Sen, we are pleased to announce the final session of series four of Joining the Dots: International Conversations on Violence Against Women.

Reem AlSaleem, the UN Special Rapporteur on Violence against women and Girls, its causes and consequences, conducted a mission to the UK in 2024 and presented her report to the UN in July of this year.

She visited London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast and Cardiff.

Her recommendations address the Istanbul Convention reservations, government machinery, the No Recourse rule and illegal migration provisions, prostitution, femicide, parental alienation and much more. She recommends that the UK ‘Ensure that women’s organizations are able to effectively participate in all decisions that affect women and girls’.

In advance of the UK coming before CEDAW and to consider how best to move forward using her work, join us to hear from Reem, in discussion with Professors Liz Kelly and Purna Sen of CWASU.

Catch up on series one, two, three and four.
