Event description

Description

The Institution of Structural Engineers and IABSE British Group will host an evening to celebrate the life and work of Frei Otto. A lecture by Mike Cook (Buro Happold) will be followed by the screening of the documentary "Frei Otto. Spanning the Future".

Frei Otto (1925-2015) was a German architect, pioneer of lightweight structures and winner of the Pritzker Prize. Among some of his most famous projects are Germany's pavilion for the 1967 World Expo in Montreal and the Munich Olympic Park of 1972. This documentary is about the life and works of Frei Otto, told in his own words and by those he inspired, including Zaha Hadid.
